OUR
MISSION. . . The Arts Council of Southern Indiana champions the
expansion of the arts, serves as a catalyst for learning and creative
expression, and provides access for all residents of Floyd, Clark,
Harrison, Washington, Scott, and Jefferson Counties."
A group of musicians who realized
the need for an organization to support artistic programming formed
the Arts Council of Southern Indiana in New Albany in 1976. Originally
formed as the Floyd County Council for the Arts, the organization
accepted a regional role from the Indiana Arts Commission to serve
six counties in Southern Indiana in 1999. The counties served are
Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Jefferson, Scott, and Washington.
To bring the arts to life
and make them accessible to all ages in Southern Indiana is part
of our mission. To build audiences by funding arts education programming
is our particular goal. We also recognize significant artistic
accomplishments and honor outstanding arts patronage in Southern
Indiana.
From awards and performances
to subsidies for classroom experiences, the Arts Council of Southern
Indiana enhances and supports educational and enrichment activities
for all ages. As a grantmaking organization to non-profits in
six counties, the Arts Council offers many opportunities to the
citizens of our region.
