The Arts Council of Southern
Indiana began the Arts Appleseed Program in 1998 to mutually
benefit area students and local artists.
The program's objective is twofold: to give students an
in-depth experience with an art form in a way that is
not ordinarily available through the standard school curriculum,
and to utilize local talent by providing artists with
paid opportunities to share their art. Whether a presentation
or a hands-on workshop, this experience allows students
to move beyond the role of observers and actively learn
about what it takes to bring art to life.
Arts Appleseed funds may only
be used for arts programming. By arts programming, we
mean the employment of a professional artist or group
to supplement curricular activities in visual art, music,
theatre, dance, or creative writing. The experience may
be "hands-on" or a presentation.
