Andrea Grossman has been Executive
Director of the Arts Council of Southern Indiana since 1995.She
came to this position with 25 years of college teaching experience
in music.
Andrea has taught at colleges in Tennessee,
Virginia, Indiana, and Kentucky. She has performed throughout
the United States as soloist and chamber musician and is frequently
sought as an adjudicator for music competitions. Andrea is also
an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University Southeast where
she teaches private and class piano and music theory courses.
She performs each year in the popular Steinways Alive program
held at the Ogle Center in March.
As Executive Director of the Arts Council,
Andrea has worked to increase the opportunities of young students
in our community. She started the Young Artist Piano Competition,
the Kids Culture Club, the Mayors Art Award program, and the Ed
Adams Musical Arts Scholarship.
From being a radio announcer on public
radio to teaching, performing and arts administration, Andrea's
career has spanned several areas of the arts. She is Vice-President
of New Albany Rotary, serves on the board of greater Louisville
Music Teachers Association, the NAFC Schools Community Council,
and is a graduate of Leadership Southern Indiana.
The function of the Executive Director
is to implement the policies set by the Board of Directors. Grant
writing, public relations, special event planning, fundraising,
handling the responsibilities of the Regional Partnership Program,
and supervision of programming are part of her responsibilities.
