The Art Merit Award
The Arts Council of
Southern Indiana takes pride in recognizing the talents
and achievements of local students through the Art Merit
Award Program. These $500 awards are presented annually
to four high schools at their spring awards presentations.
Seniors enrolled in Floyd Central,
Graceland, New Albany, and Providence high schools are
eligible to apply. A school faculty member must nominate
students for The Art Merit Award or, if self-nominated,
applications must be accompanied by a faculty recommendation.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
· Demonstrated excellence
in the performing or visual arts.
· A commitment
to continue their arts education.
· A minimum overall
grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
· A minimum arts
grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0)
Applications for The Art Merit
Award are distributed to schools in March. Up to three
applications from each school are submitted to The Arts
Council for consideration. Art Merit Award recipients
will be notified during the first week in May.
Additionally, the Ed Adams
Musical Arts Scholarship, a $1,000 award, is presented
annually to the one student at Floyd Central High School
or New Albany High School who receives the highest score
in academics, school service, musical talent, and, the
most outstanding recommendation from their teacher.
